Yesterday, AT&T released a carrier update for the iPhone which enables MMS (Mulitimedia Messaging System). MMS allows you to send pictures and videos to all your friends, family, and colleagues. I looked through the discussions boards and it seems that the carrier update went well for mostly all. How did it go for you? Feel free to leave a comment about your experience. If you didn’t install the carrier update, in iTunes click “Check for Update” and it will install. Happy iPhone using to all!

You may have noticed that since the new iPhone 3Gs was released, Apple lowered the price of the 8gb 3G to $99. An 8gb iPod touch costs $229. And the iPod doesnt have a camera or phone. So why is the more complex device cheaper?? Well, its not. When you purchase the iPhone you have to sign a 2 year contract with At&t and Apple, raising the price to $599. So now the iPod is cheaper. It would nice if you can buy just the phone. Well you cant :(

In the latest iPhone 3.1 beta, there have been more signs of iProd. In previous builds, we noticed iProd0,1, which was thought to be a prototype product. Now we are seeing iProd1,1 which means this could be a product awaiting launch. Could iProd be a code name for a future Apple product? Possible a netbook/tablet?

Want to tether your iPhone to your computer, but you don’t want to jailbreak your iPhone? Well there is a solution. On your iPhone’s safari browser go to http://help.benm.at/help.php. There, go into the tethering section and download the profile for your carrier. If you have prolbems with visual voicemail or MMS (if it is offically supported) go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and after everything should be set back to normal.

Note: macosxtipsandtricks.com is not responsible if your carrier charges you extra for tethering if it is not offically or is.

The latest update to the iPhone is still jailbreakable; however, it can only be done using redsn0w. With jailbreaking your iPhone in this case, you can: enable background process, applications addons for apps from the App Store such as Pandora, and you can also download an application that will give you turn-by-turn directions.

Tutorials can be found here, but we will soon be hosting our own tutorials!

It is really simple to take a screenshot on the iphone, just press the power and home buttons simultaneously, and the screen should blink. You can find the picture in your pictues album.
